Artists need INSPIRATION!!

Which is why it is important to travel, see new places, change your mind set, eat different food and feel different emotions!

SO! Cat & Caroline went on a road trip through France in June and July.

It was an 'Art & Champagne' Trip!! It started in Rouen, (architecture) then onto Giverny (Monet) onto Epernay (Champagne) onto Dijon (art and good wine and mustard!) then onto Aix en Provence (Cezanne) onto Sault (lavender fields).

Road Trip through France

ROUEN

Magnificent architecture and a discussion on 'Perspective'

blog caroline hulse

This scene was inspiring for perspective and light.

Caroline also found this 'inspiring' for shape and colour. You can find 'inspiration' anywhere = just look!

We also enjoyed 'Cafe Culture'

GIVERNY

Monet's garden of course and those well known images of lily ponds. You can't feel 'Monet' here any more (too many tourists) but maybe some paintings will be created inspired by something here = probably this photo

which was in the garden of the wonderful studio apartment we stayed in.

DIJON

In Dijon it was the gin and tonics with a cucumber spiral which inspired us!!

Plus the interesting hotel!

The Musee des Beaux Arts took us back in time.

The Hotel took us forward!!

AIX EN PROVENCE

Aix assaulted us with colourful food markets and an easel on every corner.

SAULT

Is the 'capital' of lavender = we were slightly early but still magnificent sights.

Of course the whole trip was inspiring for colour and scenery

We shall see what paintings emerge!!

THEN SPAIN!!

Then it was a few days in our old 'haunt' = Marbella!

We used to have an art studio in the centre of Marbella, so we know the area well.

This time we chose to stay in an apartment on the beach.

It was complete paradise.

With family and Alex Croxford with wife Letitia flew in from China. Would not have left but for Magic Easel in the UK calling!!
